Stylist: Jyn San 9th February 2017

Today we had a guest lecture Hair & Makeup Artist Jyn San. Jyn is experienced in film, advertising and editorial and working directly with photographers. Based in Bath and the South West she creates professional make up, hair and fashion styling for publication and advertising agencies.
Trained at the Toni and Guy Academy in London Jyn-San worked for Toni as a senior stylist and has experience in advanced cutting and editorial hair styling. Attending Greasepaint in London Jyn has experience in theatre and fashion make up, including special effects and prosthetics.
Jyn took us through a broad ranged portfolio of projects shes been involved with throughout her career. Her main job description is being a specialist in advanced hair styling, professional and theatrical make up and prosthetics.  However she took us through her typical day of being hired for a project, this involved travelling and buying clothing and props to set the scene for an advertisement. Jyn could be asked to buy anything from Christmas decorations to large pieces of furniture that have to fit a specific brief for any given project.
Jyn explained the stresses of the job and the process of buying and returning props in mint condition or the expense would come out of her pay check.
Because of our current fashion look book project we were set the task of going into GAP clothing store and styling outfits for 'Mom And Dad lounge wear' then post them on social media.
Jyn explained the importance of social media within the creative world, this allows creatives to share there work with a wider audience that can stretch across the globe.
