Why Do I Want To Do Photography?
At the age of around 15 was when the world of photography became apparent to me. I have always been avid for creativity, producing poor quality drawings and numerous arts and crafts activities as a child but forever being frustrated in producing average or low quality work and continuously searching for a field of creativity that I could excel in.
Blog website Tumblr first introduced me into the world of creative and artistic photography and even now I still use the site as a source of inspiration along with the likes of Pinterest. It started as just reblogging other users images and creating a aesthetically pleasing webpage then midway through high school i used my Ipod Touch 4G to post my own images on Tumblr, with the 0.7mp quality these images were of a very poor quality, with no flash available i used a torch and random editing apps i came across and was impressed when i scraped a few notes from other users online.
eventually i managed to save enough from birthdays and Christmas to buy fuji- film bridge camera for £150, being bulkier than a compact digital camera and with the added pop up flash i thought this was a route into becoming a legitimate photographer.

I used this camera for the next year so, occasionally uploading to tumblr and making prints in Boots photo processing. In 2013 i got accepted to study A-Level Photography at my local college, this opened a whole new field as we were allowed to borrow DSLRs and did a project in shooting on 35mm film and processing our own photograms and prints in the darkroom. I knew from when i started college it was the subject i was most passionate about. In my spare time i would create photo books and had my own minimalism Instagram Feed. In 2015 i had completed my A-levels but was gutted that i had only achieved a C grade in the subject. I knew i wanted to goto university but I had not achieved enough UCAS points to goto a reputable university of my choice, being a creative subject there is leniency in this and i was accepted for multiple interviews however I wasn’t confident enough in my skills and abilities that I was ready for university; I therefore decided to stay at college and do a BTEC 90 credit Diploma in Photography and Creative media to up my photographical skills and UCAS points. After a year of this intensive course we covered alot of practical work that was overlooked with ALevels, including lighting, animation and digital editing.

I came out with a Double Distinction star which I was amazed by as I only needed a Merit Merit to meet my conditional offer at Bath Spa.
Throughout these years I have built up a range of skills in the field and i am keen to pursue a career in the subject hence my decision to study at Bath Spa.
My inspirations consist of a lot of lesser known creative photographers mainly ones found on Instagram, these include Greg Ponthus, Rich Stapleton, Travis Rathbone and Micheal Brunt.
